the Republic

Compilation Artist

the Republic formed in 2004 combining the bands of two brothers into a single four piece with the goal of creating beautiful music that, inspired by Plato’s Republic, is ‘good for society’. Influenced by Helio Sequence, Death Cab for Cutie and Arcade Fire, the Republic has produced two EP’s and an LP. This Seattle quartet is writing new songs at the moment, and is happy to support Spilling Hope for the second year.

About the Song: “Each time I head downtown, I intentionally keep a few dollars in my pocket to give to ‘someone in need’…feels pretty good. The problem is, I’m not really helping. This song moves me toward love. To look someone in the eye. To listen to a story. To provide someone with food, shelter or even the jacket covering my shoulders…things that take time and effort, and therefore send a clear message of love.” – Adam
